Brewers keeping pace with Mets

September 24, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers stayed a game behind the New York Mets in the National League wildcard chase.  The Mets beat the Cubs 6-2 on Tuesday night and the Brewers followed suit with a 7-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Prince Fielder clubbed a game winning, walkoff 2-run homer to send the Brewers to victory.

Dave Bush worked five innings before departing.  He wasn't involved in the decision.  The win goes to closer Salomon Torres who pitched a scoreless 9th inning for the Brewers.

CC Sabathia pitches for the Brewers on short rest tonight.  He'll face Pittsburgh's Paul Maholm in the pitching matchup.  The Brewers are going with Sabathia on short rest.  Pitching him today makes him available to the team on Sunday if needed.
