Democrat VP contender rallys behind McCain

September 3, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Tuesday's nights big draw at the Republican National Convention was someone who's familiar with being on a presidential ticket. However, Joe Lieberman was running as the Democratic VP in the last election.

Republican Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch says calls it “historic” that a Vice Presidential Candidate for the opposing party comes to support a Republican candidate. He calls Lieberman's speech a good message for independents and Democrats to take a look at John McCain, “a true American hero”.

The Assembly leader also liked Fred Thompson's speech but called that a great call to rally those already in the party.

Lieberman, a registered Democrat and Independent Conneticut Senator, endorsing McCain is a sign that Obama lacks substance despite good speeches, according to Huebsch.

The Speaker believes Lieberman's personal experience in working with McCain is why he is endorsing the Arizona Senator.
