Ned is gone, it's time for the players to get it done

September 16, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Alright Brewers fans, Ned Yost is gone, you got your wish.  Now it's time for the players to show up, something they failed to do for the last 2+ weeks.

This team has been in a pennant race, but during the recent 4-game series in Philadelphia, most of the players looked like they didn't want to be there.  There's 12 games left and it's time to do whatever it takes to get into the postseason.  Stop swinging for the fences.  Put the ball in play.  Hit the ball to the right side to advance or score a runner.  Driving in a run with a sacrifice fly is alright to do.  A home run isn't necessary every time, especially since that aspect of your game has gone dry as well.

You can't blame Yost for all the teams troubles anymore.  It's time for the players to look in the mirror.  Are they ready?  It may take 8 or 9 wins to win the wildcard.  After going so bad, do the Brewers have that in them?  We'll see.  It starts tonight in Chicago against the Cubs.  Remember that sweep the Cubs laid on the Brewers at Miller Park?  Well, how about the Brewers return the favor.

It's too bad the manager is the only one that gets fired, because I can think of 5 or 6 players right off the bat that should have followed Ned right out the door.  It's second chance time guys.  It's time to make it count.
