Parra removed from lineup (Brewers notes)

September 17, 2008 By WRN Contributor

New Milwaukee Brewers skipper Dale Sveum has removed slumping Manny Parra from the starting rotation.  Parra has won just 1 of his last 10 starts, going 1-6 with a 5.50 ERA.  Right-hander Dave Bush will move up to Parra's turn on Thursday and Seth McClung will rejoin the rotation the next day in Cincinnati.

Brewers reliever David Riske will undergo surgery next week to have a bone spur removed from his right elbow.  He had a cortisone shot on September 8th but hasn't been able to return to the mound.

Pitcher Yovani Gallardo worked three innings of a simulated game in Phoenix yesterday and moved a step closer to returning to active duty with the Brewers.  Gallardo will have another session there Friday and rejoin the team for the final week of the season.
