Legislative candidates might want to take some pointers from a woman who's already a winner this election season.
Kelda Helen Roys of Madison recently won in a six-way primary for the 81st Assembly District seat. She faces no Republican opponent in November.
She credits part of that victory to her efforts to get out and go door-to-door in the district. Roys estimates she visited nearly 20,000 homes while on the campaign trail.
The Madison Democrat admits it was difficult at first to show up at homes unannounced. But she says most of the people she spoke with appreciated the chance to meet with her face to face, and told her they voted for her because of that.
