An aggressive shopping season

These troubling economic times might actually bring some good news for holiday shoppers.

Many analysts expect shoppers to cut back on their purchases this holiday season. However, the head of the Wisconsin Merchants Federation has a different take on the predictions of a dismal holiday shopping season.

Chris Tackett says it will mean some good deals for consumers, with retailers planning aggressive marketing strategies. He says there will likely be many competitive sales that could help to get consumers out spending money.

A recent Gallup poll found more than a third of those surveyed plan to spend less on holiday shopping this year because of the economic slump.
