A tough economy and high gas prices have caused a slide in sales of new vehicles statewide. Scott Quimby of vehicle registration tracking firm Reg-Trak, Inc. says sales of new vehicles in Wisconsin are off nearly eight percent from a year ago.
Quimby says the biggest declines are in sales trucks and SUVs, which are likely the result above average gas prices. Truck sales are off nearly 13-percent from last year.
Quimby says those people who are buying new cars are going for hybrids and other fuel efficient vehicles.
