The Democrats stand by what one automated voice may have told you on the phone. Matt Lehrich, a Barack Obama campaign spokesman, says their robocalls are aimed at re-shifting back to "the issues" in the presidential race, as well as spotlight John McCain's faults.
The Wisconsin Republican Party has criticized the pro-Obama call for falsely equating John McCain to George W Bush. Lehrich stands by the assertion adding that McCain himself admits to voting with the President on 90% of the major issues.
The Democratic spokesman claims former Secretary of State Colin Powell and members of McCain's own party, including four US Senators, have come out against GOP calls that question Obama's link to 60's radical Bill Ayers.
Lehrich believes Republicans will continue "character assassinations" with additional GOP backed robocalls and the Democratic Presidential nominee's campaign will respond accordingly.
