Former Badger kicker, Mehlhaff signs with Saints

Taylor Mehlhaff The New Orleans Saints have signed rookie Taylor Mehlhaff to replace the injured Martin Gramatica as the team's place kicker.  Mehlhaff, who as drafted by the Saints in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft, was beat out by Gramatica prior to the season opener for the kicking job.

Mehlhaff practiced with the Saints on Wednesday after undergoing a physical.  He ended his career at Wisconsin as No. 2 on the school's all-time scoring list with 295 points.  He ranks second on UW's career field goal list with 50 makes, second in career FG percentage (.769) and is atop the program in career extra points made (145), attempted (148) and percentage (.979).
