Doug Chickering has served as the executive director of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association ( WIAA ) for the last 23 years. Chickering announced his retirement on Wednesday, effective the end of the 2008-09 school year.
Chickering served as executive director since 1986. He's only the fourth person to hold that position throughout the 113-year history of the Association.

The WIAA's Board of Control expects to name Chickering's replacement prior to March 1, 2009.
