Pointers pull off upset of 2nd ranked Whitewater

October 27, 2008 By WRN Contributor

UW-Stevens Point took a gamble and it paid off on Saturday, leading to a 17-16 win over 2nd ranked and defending NCAA Division 3 Champion UW-Whitewater at Whitewater.

The Pointers scored a late touchdown and instead of kicking the extra-point to tie and go to overtime, they went for the two point conversion and the win with :15 left on the clock.  The Pointers also ended Whitewater's 25-game conference ( WIAC ) win streak and 27-game home win streak.
