When homeowners attack

October 30, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A home invasion on Racine’s west side goes bad – for the offender. Police reports indicate the female occupant of a home came downstairs after hearing the front door kicked-in, jumped from the stairway onto the burglar, and hung on during a struggle. Her son then got the family’s unloaded gun from the kitchen and pistol-whipped the intruder, who managed to break free & run outside — into the arms of a neighbor, who put the 20-year old in a headlock. The mother then came out and pointed the gun at the burglar. Police were called and took the man into custody.

Sergeant Bernie Kupper says it appears the victims did nothing excessive, although the investigation continues.
