Armoring up against holiday snacks

November 24, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A statewide program can help you resist holiday sweets at office parties and family gatherings. The Healthy Holidays program includes a food journal, goal setting charts and calorie counters all online. Although the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation's program allows for online interaction information such as a person's weight is kept private The six week team challenge runs through January 19th but they are accepting enrollment any time at Lightenupwisconsin.com . Teams can be made up of co-workers, family members or friends.

Jordan Bingham, Director of Health Initiatives at the non-profit group, says the participant's goal may be to maintain weight or get a jump on a healthier New Year's plan.

"It really can provide momentum going into January," says Bingham.

In January, the 100 day Lighten Up Wisconsin challenge kicks off, a program that Healthy Holidays participants are automatically enrolled into. It's a $15 fee for each participant.
