Please remove Lions from Thanksgiving day

November 29, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Two average games and one stinker.  That was the score on Thanksgiving Day 2008 in terms of the National Football League.

The night game with Arizona at Philadelphia had a good story line and it played out well with Donovan McNabb getting his groove back in a route over the Cardinals.

Dallas at home against Seattle was never a game, but it was at least semi-watchable.  But the morning game, the Detroit Lions hosting Tennessee, it was over before it started.  Because of the Lions poor management over the years, this Lions team can't even compete right now.  It made for a great nap and believe me, I took advantage.

This is really surprising that the ever so conscious NFL , always protective of its image, allows the Lions to continue to muck up the programming on Thanksgiving.  I know it's a thing of tradition, but if that tradition has the whole country turning the game off or taking a nap, or whatever, then the NFL has to change something.  Tradition will not be tradition for long if it stinks.

Come on National Football League, I know you're smarter than that.  Dump the Lions and give football fans something real to watch before its too late.
