Rice Lake student brings gun to school

November 11, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A Rice Lake student is in custody, after police say he brought a gun to school.

The Rice Lake Police Department was called to an off-site school district classroom Monday morning for a report of a student bringing a gun to school. The student was isolated and placed under protective custody by police. A search of the student found an unloaded .22 caliber handgun. Officers also located several rounds of ammunition in the students backpack.

The 17-year-old male student was taken to the Baron County jail and is set to make a court appearance later this week.

The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney for a review of charges. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
