Supplying venison to the needy

Food pantries are hoping Wisconsin deer hunters are in a giving mood.

The DNR is urging Wisconsin deer hunters to give up their venison to food pantries. Spokesman Greg Matthews says about 150 processing sites in 53 counties are signed up to accept deer that hunters donate.

With these tough economic times, Matthews says food pantries are counting on getting a significant supply of donated venison.
