Suspect maintained his innocence

November 19, 2008 By WRN Contributor

As a Hatfield man gets set for his first court appearance in connection with the murder of his ex-wife, video of him in the days after the alleged homicide remains chilling.

Authorities say Douglas Sidie admitted to the shooting of Alisha Sidie on Saturday and led them to the place where he hid the body, But in the days after the shooting, he wasn't shy about appearing on camera with the couple's 2-year-old twin boys. He told the story of how is ex-wife dropped off the boys, got into an argument with him, then left on foot.

WEAU-TV in Eau Claire interviewed Sidie in his home last week. He seemed calm and maintained his innocence, thanking those that had helped in the volunteer search efforts. In fact, he participated in that search as well.

District Attorney Gerald Fox said Tuesday he has prepared a criminal complaint charging 39-year-old Douglas Sidie with first-degree intentional homicide, concealing a corpse and obstructing an officer, and the sheriff's department is reviewing it. Fox said Sidie likely will appear by video conference from jail for the bail and bond hearing Wednesday afternoon, and he could face the charges at that time.
