Lost hunters found

December 1, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Two Milwaukee area hunters, who were lost in the Kettle Moraine State Forest in Fond du Lac County overnight Sunday, have been found.

Sheriff's Captain Dean Will says the two men, who are 36-year-old Miguel Bustos and his 17-year-old son Andreas, had cell phones on them and were able to call the Sheriff's Department and maintain contact while they were being searched for.

Sheriff's Deputy Nick Evans got stuck in the heavy snow, but used the siren on his squad car to help the hunters find their way out of the woods.

Will says medical personnel checked the two hunters out at the scene and they were fine. He says they were able to walk out of the woods on their own and were not transported to any hospitals.

Department of Natural Resources Conservation Warden Doug Bilgo says the two took down their tree stands late Sunday and hunkered down in the woods when the snow came. They didn't call for help until Monday morning.
