December 29, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Lazar Hayward scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Wesley Matthews added 21 points as the Marquette Golden Eagles cruised to a 84-45 win over Presbyterian on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles (11-2) jumped out to an 18-4 lead and led 40-18 at the break.  Marquette was never threatened in the second half in posting their largest margin of victory this season.

Marquette outrebounded Presbyterian 44-20.  It was their final tuneup prior to the start of Big East play.  The Golden Eagles open conference play Thursday against Villanova.
