When a breach emptied Lake Delton last June, the popular tourist destination around the Wisconsin Dells saw one of its main attractions disappear.
Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau Director Romy Snyder says there's no question that area businesses, especially many resorts, took a big hit because of the missing lake. However, she says the region pulled together to help everyone stay afloat through a tough summer.
Now, Snyder says businesses are already gearing up for next summer, when Lake Delton is expected to be fully restored . She says many resorts are planning incentives and ad campaigns to help get the word out that the lake will back. One resort is even inviting back guests that were there when the lake breached and emptied, offering them a free stay.
