Sheriff releases 911 calls from lost hunters

December 4, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Fond du Lac County Sheriff's officials have released some of the 911 calls a pair of Milwaukee men made when they were lost in the Kettle Moraine State Forest this week.

Seventeen-year-old Andres Bustos and his 36-year-old father Miguel took down their tree stands late Sunday afternoon and were venturing out of the woods when they got lost due to the heavy snowfall, which Andres related to a dispatcher Monday morning. He also told the dispatcher that they were cold, wet, and hungry. The teen told the emergency worker that he and his father walked in circles the night before, then settled under a tree to try and get some sleep. He called 911 several times Monday morning as his cell phone began losing power. Eventually they were able to make their way out of the woods by following the sound of a patrol car's siren.
