Yankees set to deal Cabrera to Milwaukee

December 11, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The New York Daily News is reporting that the New York Yankees are set to send outfielder Melky Cabrera to the Milwaukee Brewers for veteran outfielder Mike Cameron.

The Yankees are looking for a one-year stopgap before they give top prospect Austin Jackson a shot in centerfield.  Cabrera was thought to be the Yankees centerfielder of the future until he hit just .249 with 8 home runs and 37 rbi's last season.

** The Yankees deal for free agent pitcher CC Sabathia turned into a 7-year, $161-million deal.  Sabathia said it wasn't about the money, but it sure turned out that way.  He didn't want to pitch on the East coast and didn't think he'd be comfortable in New York City, but it's amazing how a few extra Benjamin's have a way of providing some big time influence on one's decision.  Sabathia's deal will be finalized pending his passing a physical.
