Fielder Gets Two Year Deal

January 23, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Prince Fielder avoids arbitration and will remain a Brewer for the next two seasons after agreeing to a two year contract extension worth $18 million dollars.  Fielder hit .276 with 34 home runs and 102 RBI in 2008.  He is set to become a free agent in 2011.  Fielder must pass a physical later today then he'll sign the contract.

GM Doug Melvin says the team will bring back 38-year-old infielder Craig Counsell for the 2009 season.
