Jobs website upgraded

January 13, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The state's new Internet employment site has received an upgrade. JobCenterOfWisconsin.com was launched in September, and new improvements will allow job seekers to create a professional cover letter and complete a standardized work application in addition to a resume, according to the Department of Workforce Development . The upgrade also adds links to information on careers, wages and employment trends.

For employers, the improvements simplify the steps in listing job openings. The upgrade also lets employers provide a link to their own websites, and it adds employer tools to further improve navigation.

DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman says the upgrades will better connect job seekers and employers searching for skilled workers. Job seekers have posted more than 3,500 resumes and applications on the system. Wisconsin employers have listed more than 13,000 jobs.

JobCenterofWisconsin.com replaced the state's older JobNet system, with approximately 21,000 employers who used the JobNet site automatically on the new site. Additional improvements are planned throughout 2009.
