Landowner reacts to deer slaughter

January 13, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The woman on whose Waupaca County land snowmobilers slaughtered deer last week is upset — and taking action.

Virginia Neimuth is doing her part, to nab the snowmobilers who herded and killed several deer on her land. She immediately shut off access to several miles of the main trail, until the suspects are caught. ‘To be slaughtered like that, and misused, it’s sad,” says Niemuth. “I hope they get them.”

Niemuth was very disturbed by carnage left behind. “One had been run over, the whole stomach was ruptured. The tracks had gone over him. They literally skinned him. They must have been on him with a snowmobile, and just gunned it.” Also found on Niemuth’s property, deer tied to a tree. Niemuth said that animal had hung itself.

Local snowmobile clubs and the Humane Society are offering several thousand dollars in reward money, for information leading to the perpetrators.
