Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy spent Monday night and Tuesday, talking with Jim Haslett with regards to the Packers vacant defensive coordinator job. Haslett spent last season as the Rams defensive coordinator and later their interim head coach. Haslett is one of five finalists for the Rams head coaching position.
McCarthy is considering his options as he awaits a decision by Greg Williams concerning the defensive coordinators post. McCarthy met with Williams last Friday.
The Packers have selected Shawn Slocum as their new special teams coordinator. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting today that Mike McCarthy has decided to promote Slocum after interviewing at least two outside candidates in the last week.
