"Outrage" over return to gas tax indexing

January 8, 2009 By WRN Contributor

We can look for a return to gas tax indexing in Wisconsin, now that Governor Doyle has endorsed the idea.

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) says the Governor is his decision to sign a bill three years ago to repeal the automatic gas tax hike that occurred every April. With Democrats controlling both houses of the Legislature, she believes there's a good chance it will happen as well.

Lazich says people in Wisconsin "demanded" repeal of the automatic gas tax increase, and she thinks they'll be "absolutely outraged" at a move to restore it.
