Snowmobilers sought in deer deaths

January 12, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The state DNR is investigating what appears to be the torture and death of 5 deer by snowmobilers in the Waupaca County Town of Lind. Warden Ted Dremmel said 2 bucks and 3 doe were found dead on private property near snowmobile trails south of Waupaca, along County Highway EE.

Dremmel with the DNR says it appears 3 or 4 snowmobilers used their machines to "round up" the animals, then ran them over. Dremmel found 1 deer still alive with broken legs, and euthenized it. Another deer was found tied to a tree. A reward of $3000 thousand dollars is being offered for any information leading to those involved. The snowmobile trails in the area where the incident occurred Friday have been closed.
