Kenosha asks USPS to try harder

February 4, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night can keep the Postal Service from its appointed rounds, but apparently snow and ice can, at least in Kenosha, where the Common Council has passed a resolution asking mail carriers to try a little harder to deliver the mail this winter.

"Where this really started concerning me is when I started getting seniors calling, telling me they couldn't get their prescription drugs delivered," said alderman John Ruffolo. "Obviously everyone counts on the U.S. Postal Service." And Ruffolo, who says his attempts to speak to the Kenosha postmaster were unsuccessful, offers a suggestion to USPS: "maybe they should go back to horses."

A copy of the resolution will be sent to Wisconsin's congressional delegation.
