No astroturf, just cement

February 2, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Football wasn't the only sport Wisconsinites watched Sunday for knock downs and aggression. A Wisconsin Roller Derby league, the Mad Rollin Dolls , played host to the Chicago Outfit in Madison on Superbowl Sunday.  Mauly Tov, #131, said "we're all lot cuter than football players."

Spectators couldn't help but notice the hard falls some of the women take. Jewels of Denile, #99, said with the safety gear and proper training "it doesn't hurt unless you fall wrong."

Mauly added "we make them fall more than we fall."

Both compete for the Unholy Rollers , one of the teams in the five-year-old flat track roller derby league. The Mad Rollin Dolls will be among those taking part in Madison's Polar Plunge  on February 21st benefiting Special Olympics Wisconsin.
