Brewers release Gagne

March 9, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Eric Gagne The Milwaukee Brewers have released reliever Eric Gagne (pictured) so he can rehab his sore shoulder at a private facility in Arizona.

Gagne hadn't pitched in a spring game and developed shoulder soreness.  An MRI detected damage to the rotator cuff and labrum.  Gagne would have cost the Brewers $1.5-million in base salary if he made the big league roster.  He was a disappointment last season, finishing with 10 saves in 17 chances and a 5.41 ERA.
