Butler's Howard named Horizon League Player of the Year

Ryan Tillema Butler University sophomore forward Matt Howard was named Player of the Year to highlight the Horizon League's men's basketball 2008-09 All-League Teams and specialty award winners. 

The Horizon League 1st team includes:

Matt Howard – Butler – 14.3 ppg  6.9 rpg
J'Nathan Bullock – Cleveland State – 15.6 ppg  6.8 rpg
Ryan Tillema – Green Bay – 16.9 ppg  4.4 rpg
Gordon Hayward – Butler – 13.8 ppg  6.3 rpg
Josh Mayo – Illinois-Chicago - 16.9 ppg  3.4 apg

All-League 2nd team

Cedrick Jackson – Cleveland State – 9.9 ppg  5.5 rpg
Todd Brown – Wright State – 11.8 ppg  5.0 rpg
Rahmon Fletcher – Green Bay – 10.7 ppg  4.1 apg
Tone Boyle – Milwaukee – 13.5 ppg  3.3 rpg
Urule Igbavboa – Valparaiso – 12.1 ppg  5.9 rpg

Milwaukee 's Tone Boyle and James Eayrs (11.2 ppg  5.5 rpg) were both named to the All-Newcomer team.  Green Bay's Terry Evans (5.2 rpg  2.2 spg) was named to the Horizon League All-defensive team.  Green Bay's Ryan Tillema (pictured) was named the Horizon League's Sixth Man of the Year award winner.

Butler's Brad Stevens was named the Horizon League Coach of the Year.
