Hoffman Likley To Miss Opener

March 23, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Brewers manager Ken Macha announced on Sunday that the team will likley be without closer Trevor Hoffman when they open the season in San Francisco on April 7th.  The all-time Major League saves leader injured his right oblique muscle in early March and has not pitched since.  Seth McClung or Carlos Villanueva are expected to fill the role of closer while Hoffman recovers.

On the field on Sunday, the Brewers picked up a 10-9 Cactus League win over the Giants.  Brad Nelson, Jason Kendall, and Rickie Weeks all went deep for the Crew.

The Brewers play the Rockies today.
