Panthers open Horizon League Tournament with win

March 4, 2009 By WRN Contributor

James Eayrs scored 20 points and Ricky Franklin added 18 to lead the UW- Milwaukee Panthers 77-68 win over  Loyola  in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament.  The Panthers got some revenge on the team that's beaten the Panthers in first round games each of the last two years.

Milwaukee led 35-17 at halftime and made it 44-19 early in the second half before the Ramblers fought their way back.

The Ramblers (14-18, 6-13 Horizon League) got 20 points from J.R. Blount.  He scored 18 of his 20 in the second half.

Milwaukee (17-13, 12-7) plays Wright State Friday in a second-round game in Indianapolis.
