Suppan To Start Opener

March 24, 2009 By WRN Contributor

It looks like veteran Jeff Suppan will be manager Ken Macha's choice to start the season opener for the Brewers on April 7th in San Francisco.  The way that the rotation is laid out for the rest of the spring has Suppan set for the opener, followed by Yovani Gallardo and Manny Parra.  Braden Looper would get the nod in the home opener against the Cubs at Miller Park on April 10th with Dave Bush pitching the next day.

Yovani Gallardo gave up 3 homers and 6 earned runs in five innings worth of work as the Brewers were pounded by the Rockies 7-1 in Cactus League play on Monday.
