UWGB settles for CBI

March 16, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Todd Kowalczyk The Green Bay Phoenix will play on in the post season, but not in a tournament they were originally looking for.

After falling out of NCAA Tournament consideration and then being bypassed by the NIT, the Phoenix will host Vermont on Wednesday at the Resch Center (7pm) in Green Bay in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

The CBI is a 16-team tournament that began last season.  Green Bay (22-10) last played in the postseason in 1996 when it played in the NCAA Tournament.  It hasn't played in the NIT since 1992.

If Todd Kowalczyk's (pictured) Phoenix pull out a win on Wednesday, they'd move into the Quarterfinals on March 23.  The semifinals are set for March 25th and the best 2-of-3 championship series starting March 30th.
