Brewers continue early season struggles

April 22, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The Brewers have yet to win a series this season and they got off to another bad start last night, falling 11-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies.  Pedro Feliz homered and drove in three runs and Jamie Moyer worked six-plus innings to lead the Phillies.

Moyer (2-1) allowed four runs and seven hits, earning his 248th career win, moving into a tie with Amos Rusie for 45th on the career list.

Ryan Braun picked up a career-high five hits, including two home runs.  He finished 5 for 5 and drove in four runs and was the only bright spot on the night.

Manny Parra took the loss, giving up five runs and seven hits in four innings and fell to 0-3.  He issued three walks, which continues to be a problem for the Brewer pitching staff.  In 13 games (4-9), Brewers pitchers have issued 65 free passes, with 7 of the 65 coming with the bases loaded.

Braden Looper (1-0) pitches game two of the series for the Brewers tonight.  Joe Blanton gets the ball for the Phillies.
