Brewers notes from Wednesday's win over the Giants

April 9, 2009 By WRN Contributor

In Wednesday night's 4-2 Milwaukee Brewers win over the San Francisco Giants, Yovani Gallardo clubbed a 3-run homer off of lefty Randy Johnson.  That home run marked the first time that a pitcher has homered off of Johnson in his career.

It's the third home run of Gallardo's young career, tying Brooks Kieschnick for the most home runs ever hit by a Brewers pitcher.  Kieschnick was also a position player prior to his becoming a pitcher.

Mike Cameron also homered in the win, #242 in his career.  He needs just 8 more to join the 250/250 club (has 291 steals).  Only 18 players in Major League history have produced at least 250 home runs and 250 stolen bases in a career.

Todd Coffey pitched 1.1 scoreless innings last night and stranded 3 inherited runners in the 7th inning.  Coffey has yet to allow a run as a Brewer (10 games, 8.2 innings pitched).

Prince Fielder recorded the 500th hit of his Major League career.  Fielder is the third youngest player in franchise history to reach 500 career hits, behind only Robin Yount and Sixto Lezcano.
