Evans, Matthews bow out in first round of dunk contest

April 3, 2009 By WRN Contributor

UW-Green Bay's Terry Evans and Marquette 's Wes Matthews both bowed out in the opening round of the NCAA's slam dunk contest at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Evans two-dunk average was 43.5 in the opening round, while Matthews two-dunk average was just 35.5.

Evans first dunk brought two of the judges to their feet, but his second dunk drew a far less enthusiastic reaction.

New Mexico's Tony Dandridge won the competition.
