Father charged in shaken baby death

April 16, 2009 By WRN Contributor

A Stevens Point man has been charged with reckless homicide in the shaken baby death of his one-month-old son. 24-year-old Scott Stevens told police he playfully tossed his baby in the air a few times who slipped through his hands and fell onto the wooden floor. Doctors say the injuries from the January incident could not have been caused by a straight fall. The baby suffered multiple bruises on the head and bleeding inside the eyes injuries that could have only been caused by being shaken violently.

Stevens faces his initial Portage County court appearance on Tuesday. He is currently jailed on an unrelated probationary hold.
