Five WIAC schools ranked in Learfield Sports top 25

Five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools are ranked in the top 25 of the 2008-09 NCAA Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings following the completion of the winer sports season.

UW-Stevens Point is the top league school with a third-place showing after accumulating 572.50 points.  UW-La Crosse is fifth with 547 points, followed by UW-Eau Claire (10th), UW-Oshkosh (12th) and UW-Whitewater (25th).

Amherst College (Mass.) leads the rankings with 679 points.

The standings recognize the best NCAA Division III overall athletics programs in the country.  The winter sports championships that were counted toward the rankings were: women's and men's basketball, fencing, women's and men's ice hockey, women's and men's track and field, skiing, women's and men's swimming and diving and wrestling.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Colegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
