Wisconsin women's basketball assistant Kathi Bennett has interviewed for the head-coaching vacancy at Southern Illinois University this week.
The Southern Illinois job is open after Dana Eikenberg resigned April 9 after five seasons at the school and a 53-92 overall record.
Bennett has largely been responsible for helping bolster the Badgers defense. The Badgers held opponents to 39.3% from the field last season, down from 41.6% two years ago. Two seasons ago, Badger opponents averaged 66.9 points a game. That number dropped to 56.6 points a game last season.
The Badgers were picked to finish 10th in the 11-team Big Ten Conference last season but finished 7th. They reached the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament and received a bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament, falling to St. Bonaventure in the 3rd round.
