April 15, 2009 By WRN Contributor

One man dies in tragic accident in northwest Wisconsin.

An accident near Lakeside Foods in New Richmond at 8:30 am on Tuesday led to the death of one man.

33-year old Eugene Hacks, of Cadott, was cutting a water pipe when his saw kicked back, striking his throat.

The New Richmond Ambulance Service responded and transported Hacks to Westfields Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hacks was working for A-1 Excavating at the time of the accident. The company had been contracted by the city to install new water meters near Lakeside Foods. No one else was injured.
