Suppan ready for Brewers opener

April 3, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up the Cactus League season with a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thrursday and the best record (20-10) in the National League.

It was a good final tuneup for Jeff Suppan, who allowed one run on three hits over five innings.  Suppan is the scheduled season opening starter on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants.

The Brewers also placed Tony Gwynn on outright waivers.  Gwynn was the odd man out after Brad Nelson and Chris Duffy both had good springs.
