UWSP chancellor resigns

April 23, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The embattled chancellor at the UW-Stevens Point will step down next month.

Linda Bunnell said she will resign May 31st to return to her Denver-based consulting firm. The UW System will appoint provost Mark Nook to replace her as interim chancellor pending approval by the Board of Regents next month.

In releasing her statement, Bunnell did not acknowledge recent questions about her leadership raised by student government leaders or the executive director of the university's foundation. Nor did she reference a fine she paid for hitting a parked car with her state vehicle while driving to the governor's budget speech in Madison in February.

Bunnell has been chancellor at U-W Stevens Point since June 2004.
