April 21, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Jordan Zimmermann Jordan Zimmermann worked six solid innings on Monday and won his Major League debut, leading the Washington Nationals to a 3-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Zimmermann is from Auburndale, Wis., and pitched collegiately at UW-Stevens Point.  His first pro start was delayed by 2 hours because of rain.  The National's top prospect allowed 2-runs on 6-hits in the win.

Zimmermann's only blemmish came in the 4th when he surrendered a 2-run homer to Matt Diaz.  After that, he retired 6 of the next 7 hitters he faced.
