Cardinal Stritch names Drew Diener basketball coach

May 12, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Drew Diener Cardinal Stritch University has named former Fond du Lac and Saint Louis University star Drew Diener the school's new head men's basketball coach.

Diener comes to Cardinal Stritch after having served as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia where he coached under Dave Leitao for the last two seasons.  Prior to coming to the bench at Virginia, Diener was the Cavaliers' director of men's basketball operations for two seasons after leaving DePaul University where he held the same post as a graduate assistant for the Blue Demons program.

The Fond du Lac native is a 2003 graduate of Saint Louis University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.  He replaces longtime coach Denny Fox who recently retired.
