Carthage College earns trip to CWS

May 19, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Carthage College (36-7) advanced to the NCAA Division 3 College World Series after knocking off UW-Whitewater 8-3 in Monday's Central Regional Championship game.  The Red Men will face the College of Wooster (39-9) on Friday morning at 10am at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.

Carthage College is making its second appearance in the national championship in three seasons and seventh in 22 years under current coach Augie Schmidt IV.

The Warhawks won an elimination game against Carthage 4-2 earlier in the day, but the Red Men bounced back to win the second game.  Whitewater finished the season 30-19.
