CWS Update: Wooster's 4-run 6th puts the Scots in the driver's seat

May 22, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The College of Wooster put four runs on the board in the 6th inning to jump out to a 7-1 lead over Carthage College in the opening game of the 2009 NCAA Division 3 CWS.

The big blow came with the bases loaded.  Bryan Kieffer took over for Mario Perez and served up a 2-run double to Sean Karpen on his first pitch.  Karpen had already clubbed a solo home run in the 4th inning.

The Scots picked up four hits in the inning and now have 12 hits for the game.  They were also aided by a Kieffer throwing error.

If the Red Men can't rally today, they'll play the loser of game 2 tomorrow morning at 10am and face elimination 24 hours into the tournament.

After 6 innings, Woostger 7, Carthage College 1
