Defense rests in prayer death trial

May 21, 2009 By WRN Contributor

The defense in the Weston prayer death trial rested this morning without calling the defendant to testify.

The defense did not say why Leilani Neumann wouldn't testify, but said it would not call 11 other witnesses either, after agreeing with prosecutors that 11-year-old Kara looked healthy the Thursday before her death last Easter Sunday.

Leilani told the judge she agreed with the decision not to testify.

Both sides went over jury instructions with the judge this morning.

They'll now prepare their closing arguments, deliver them tomorrow morning, and hand the case off to the jury.
